BP Pelican in oil nightmare

pelican in oil

This morning while watching the news I watched in HORROR as a pelican was struggling to get out of the BP oil sludge they are calling water. Having lived near the ocean and a BIG fan of pelicans whether they were keeping us company on a dock or minding their own business, I always appreciated their nature. Pelicans don’t bother anyone and I think when man makes mistakes and they cause him problems that is one thing we can accept but when our own lust for money and power disturbs the natural process of LIFE we better watch  out.

In other words it’s one thing to kill and destroy yourself,  hey that’s your business but when creatures that have been  here longer then us and creatures that will be here after us start to disappear we have surely entered the suicidal stage of our journey.

And although I have been disappointed with our President on his priority of JOBS this is over the top his fucking dancing around the issue and useless visits. Did you know a BOMB could plug the leak ? We should make the Terrorist CEO and COO of BP go down there and plug the leaking oil with their heads LOL :) Anyway a real sad deal and we see sad deals everyday but this one doesn’t leave my mind to quickly.

Pelicans don’t need our shit.

BP Pelican OilWhat do you think about the whole mess ?

What would you do if you were Barack Obama ?

Thanks
At least 20 million gallons of crude have spewing into the sea since the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded on April 20, killing 11 workers.

I think it’s sad. Reminds me of an episode of (please don’t laugh) Saved by the Bell where the students were learning about wildlife near this pond. For whatever reason, this company discovers there is oil on the school property, so they put in a drill. Then there is a spill and it kills the duck the students had been learning about, so they made a big speech to kick the oil company off their campus because of the damage. Even over ten years ago, Saturday morning kids programming covers this.

I’m sure there are probably people thinking who cares about a bird… but what they don’t realize is this is just a glimpse into the damage that has been done to the ocean and wildlife in affected areas.

    • John Sullivan@Saved by the Bell still ROCKS LOL :)except Screech says:

@Kikolani@Blogging Tips: I will just say that people that don’t care about that bird have some bad karma coming their way
in my opinion that bird has more rights then people. I know that sounds weird
      Thanks for commenting

    Oh John,

Those pictures are just heartbreaking. I’ve been focusing more on the safety issues for oil workers and I rarely watched TV so I’ve missed seeing the ecological disaster up front.

  3. Lee says:

Glad to see this John. More people need to be talking about it and quit calling it a spill. It’s a disaster just like our electing that dude. Wow gotta hit submit hope it goes through your blog is going schizo on me. every thing is like it’s scanning right to left. Hello wtf ? LOL
.-= Lee ´s last blog ..It’s Not a Spill It’s an Effin Disaster. Your Help Is Needed =-.

  4. You said it BRO. In 45+ days they could have done quite a few things like drill that relief well. Hurricane season is going to sling that slude all up the east coast and destroy environment life all over the place. Future is grim.

I wanted to add that even the BILLIONS in profit that BP has made, is not nearly going to cover the TRILLIONS or QUADRILLIONS in damage they are going to owe.

  5. Gulf Ecosystem says:

That’s pretty pathetic John, to think that in this day and age no-one can find a way to plug up that hole. I wander how the latest attempt is going.

It’s the government’s fault, or whoever gave permission for BP to drill that deep into the ocean. Did anyone even think to ask them how they would deal if a situation like this ever occurred?

If I was Obama I would be getting the best brains around working on it, find a solution, fix the problem and then send BP the bill

    • Colleen says:

If I was Obama I would be getting the best brains around working on it…

Therein lies the problem, Obama isn’t doing anything but pandering to the crowds on this one. Actually, he isn’t doing much of anything really.

  6. Maggie says:

They could have done something very like drilling, relief well days. Hurricane season will sling all over the place, slude the East Coast and the damage to the environment of life. The future is grim.

  7. Karen @ Blazing Minds says:

It only goes to prove that the human race is destroying what used to be a wonderful planet, the animals have been here longer than humans and it’s a real shame and disgrace that they have to get the brunt of our mistakes, they will get their revenge one day, mark my words, ooo I’ve come over al political and serious, can’t be having that ;)

  8. George@cross necklaces for men says:

It is never good to see this type of disaster. What makes me more sad is the havoc it is doing to innocent wildlife and the environment.

What makes me wonder is how come BP can’t stop the leak till now. Its been more than a month and nothing has been successful to plug that hole. They know how to drill it but don’t know how to stop it? In my book that doesn’t cut it. Heads have to roll. Who knows how much profit they got from that well when the going was fine and now that there’s a problem it time for someone to face the music.

Just hope something positive comes along soon. For the sake of the poor wildlife and the environment.

I researched a bit after seeing John’s post and tweeted this http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2010/06/how-bad-is-bp-deepwater-horizon/

It’s an interesting table about where BP spill fits within history.

  10. Colleen says:

Very sad. I’ve viewed all the photos by the guy who took the pelican photo and the whole thing is very disturbing. I’m afraid the situation will haunt us for some time to come.

  11. Samantha Milner says:

    Hi guys,

OMG!!! This is so sad. That poor Pelican does not deserve this. I have not been keeping up with the news like I should about this issue, because it’s just too depressing.

    Kind regards,
    Sam

  12. Melinda says:

It just pathetic that they can’t move faster in finding a solution. I, too, wonder when hurricanes and tropical storms come and stir up the Gulf this season – what will happen to our beautiful Gulf coast beaches. I’m only about an hour from the Gulf (FL) and love to take the kids for the day. I’m wondering how this is going to affect not only my personal beach trips but the beach economy as a whole and tourism in FL which always effects everyone else in FL. I’m a beach girl who hates to wear shoes..please don’t take my beach away BP. That picture of the bird is so sad. :(

  13. BP Executives Suck says:

Just read in the news that BP officials are saying it’ll take till August for them to get a handle on things.

    This is unacceptable!

Why not someone from their head office get hung everyday the spill continous till they fix it? I know it’s not the right thing to say but I’m just too frustrated.

  14. Abendtasche says:

This is a nightmare. I like these pelicans as well and will go on holiday to Florida within 2 weeks… :-(

  15. Disaster In the Gulf says:

I am speechless on the whole oil spill mess in our waters. It’s hard to believe that with all the resources this world has to offer, no one can figure out how to plug a leak! It was the pelicans covered in oil this morning but I wonder what Americans are going to do when this situation begin to affect our food supply?

  16. Keith@Canadian Prescription says:

It’s very understandable to be so upset. This was all so preventable.

If BP wasn’t so concerned with the bottom line, then a safer drilling rig would have been used AND there would have been some kind of plan ahead of time to deal with a spill BEFORE it happened.

And let’s not forget the people who lost their lives when that rig capsized, either or their families.

There should be some severe penalties, as well as recoupment for the families affected. And no bailout for BP!!! The government does not need to own an oil company. That would only compound the disaster!

  17. Donald Vidrine says:

Everyone needs to stop being so critical of BP, They are doing the best they can to stop the oil spill disaster. Why not look at Transocean for the blame? It can’t be all BP’s fault.

ME DID YOU really make that site for adsense LOL
hopefully you will have it for awhile so I approved this comment for you Good LUCK
