monkey see monkey do
Check out the Lyrics :)

Best blog in the universe
I was thinking about a title called to Delete or not delete but that post had a totally different premise and not a very positive one so let’s skip all that and get right down to what I have been putting off even at the cost of this blog loosing page rank in the last update.

I can know see that I deserved to go down to PR3 after what I have seen today. I decided to go back 500 + pages of comments on this blog and I wanted to share what I learned and what I did and why.

Ok first off I wasn’t going to delete any links just because I later found out the person was a dick so let’s get that straight, I don’t own the comments on this blog YOU DO. Once I started I checked blogs and seen many  that are now GO DADDY’s sign up pages, some of even bloggers I liked, since the domain is no longer in there hands I deleted those. I also had to delete a steady stream of links from twitter, whether they were mine or not if it was a status backtrack from twitter I deleted it. I want the people that have 100′s of comments and links to this blogs to get the maximum benefit.

As I was scrolling it was nice to see the very few same people that came by on my birthday , Christmas, I was able to see the first comment of many of friends and ALSO see where I may of let a friendship slide. If we are going to ever improve as a person we can’t just see things from one side OURS. When two bloggers come together you should study why and also when they fall apart if you start to understand the deeper aspects of that surely you will be KING :)
What else did I learn ? There were 1000′s of shitty links to this blog. Like I said I didn’t just delete ANY link because I haven’t heard from the person but I would click to see if their blog was alive and if they are still active. Many bloggers come out the gate fast and die out sadly. Also I’m not saying that from what I have seen is that the only bloggers that seemed to stay in consistent contact with me made it but I could definitely make that a case for that based on facts that I have seen.

Many of the blogs I seen were from what I call one way bloggers, they pop into your life strong and then fizzle, well the ones that are active are up in the 400K range on Alexa and the had updated posts so that tells me no one is buying their shit anymore basically.

I NEVER FEEL better seeing someone go down even people I may not like for what THEY DID :)

So you may want to scroll back to page one. What I’m thinking is that it only took a very few group of bloggers that stuck with me to make this blog. It was sad in a way to see in a way like a weed dealer knows it only takes a few good customers to make it.

True and this blog is looking to find it’s place. Right now I’m cleaning house and polishing my missiles :)

Thanks so much to everyone that has been there for me it was very cool to re back over so many comments :)

Every blogger with over 500 comments should every page rank update check every comment many bloggers quit :(

What do you think ? Just don’t delete mine :)

Oh and many were links to blogs I let go. What it also showed me is what posts work and get many responses etc try it you can learn a lot about people and your blog .

Thanks

What I really learned is don’t take your real friends for granted

1000 comments deleted and I have more to go. I was thinking about they used to be a “rumor” that a site accumulating so many links so fast was poisonous to a site. I will chill at 1000 as most were from twitter and dead sites. But I will finish. It gets boring so I have been taking some SMOKE breaks :)

This is so important to be totally honest IN MY OPINION this is the exact reason this blog is a shitty ass PR 3 and not a PR 5

I will catch em next time they caught me being lazy  :)

The real lesson is what makes stronger relationships not blogs and how we may fail people just as much as they fail us.

Knowing that makes us stronger and able to do something about it. You can’t fix what’s not broke ;) Thanks

Interesting mate, shame you didn’t get this thought before the update, then again, had you not had the knock down, maybe you wouldn’t have found this out…

Will be interesting for you to see what a difference that has made on the next PR update. ;)

Dear John, (lol)

I disagree that your site dropped because of that. I do agree that cleaning up dead links is a great idea and Xenu is a great tool to check for dead links. Maybe someday Yahoo will be as great as Google…. until then… best of luck.

Did you already delete all my comments?

An excellent tip indeed, and something I will be doing for sure. I may also steal – to delete or not delete – with a follow up post and backlink. lol

As for dead links/bloggers GONE, do you have a broken link checker plugin? That btw is also the name of a good one. :-)

Can that plug-in check broken links on comments? I have that but I thought it only checks broken links on our posts. Might be worth giving it a try again then :)

Wow, that seems a lot of cleaning job to do! Well, I guess I might be doing the same clean up but not that much. I may be the most stern comment moderator ever but hey, I’m just doing these lame passersby and spammers a little favor and taking them off the hall of shame.

Why would I even bother approving lousy comments from marketers who can’t even follow some simple comment policy? Just being true.

Nice tips bro, but check all the links? Yes, I’ll do that. Sometimes I just loved when someone leave comment but never checked the link. Thanks.

Hi guys,

Great blog John. I really love this statement (“The real lesson is what makes stronger relationships not blogs and how we may fail people just as much as they fail us.”) I will definitely have to borrow it.

Kind regards,

Sam

I’ve been thinking a lot since last year about a “forget Google” strategy. In the end it’s not right to bend yourself to Google’s view of the Web. In a way, it is a crime to ever have to think about a dumb idea like Page Rank. As Andy Beard famously said a few years ago, Google PR and “nofollow” killed the Web’s own social graph.

Which is why it had to be reintroduced by the likes of Facebook/Zuckerberg. Which is now in a way beginning to take a real bite out of Google, while Google itself continues to stumble in social (from all we’ve seen of Buzz so far). Strange…

Just thought I drop in and say hi. Recently I had a couple of things going on in my life that made me think about the upcoming plans for my blog. Looking back the experience I must say I wouldn’t be here if it’s not from some valuable advices and people who are generous to assist even though we’re complete strangers at first. This path hasn’t been easy, regardless of whatever the PR may be, I appreciate your kindness & thank you for the link love and Twitter shoutouts.

Wish you best in the next PR update. I too, have some cleaning up to do. :)

Never thought about this but it makes a lot of sense. I have over 5,000 comments so it will take a while but with the way blogs come and go these days I do not want to be linked to a parked page that is for sure.

I really feel like, unless they are comments linking to bad neighborhoods, that the comments don’t hurt the PR of your site. I’m really starting to believe that no matter what you link out to, your PR will be good so long as you have strong incoming links. I have read before that a drop in PR could be the result of losing some high PR backlinks – so if someone had you on a PR 6 site and removed your link or the site went away before the Google bots came through, then it has a major effect.
