Facebook vs Twitter Battle Royale

facebook vs twitter

Let’s just say  for this post I will  reference each one as the Billion dollar site.

First off billion dollar or I should say multi- billion dollar  sites don’t crash like twitter often does  and there are only two things about twitter I don’t like. One is the amount of crashes I can see  that with a new site or one that lacks funding which neither applies to twitter but people deal with it because it is an awesome site. The other thing and I have asked  @Twitter more then once is  asking for the Facebook @ to work like that on twitter. When I was following over 7,000 people it was virtually impossible to easily grab a friends name unless you knew how to spell it.

Now here’s where I tear into Facebook

I will always be grateful to Facebook for helping me reunite with people that I went to school with as a kid and some family that I wasn’t exactly on their Christmas card list. I was very excited when I first joined along with thousands of people in the same boat, we were all trying to do something online. You know how many of those people actually ended up being worth knowing NOT many. Facebook  is a joke in my opinion and a place for Facebook to make money. Sure you can buy ads on there that will convert but just as they become a good source for affiliate marketers to use their advertising systems they got expensive QUiCK. Facebook is all about Facebook. They have to many people to really give a shit about you. If I lost my Facebook account today I wouldn’t even care. Everyone worth knowing on there I have their number anyway. Facebooks main problem is the people on there. Even people that claim all this social media crap are there for one reason to promote their lame ass Fan page and it’s all about ME on Facebook . I don’t have time to play some fake role on there and to me it’s a complete waste of time. Sad that it’s the most popular site in the world.

Twitter is not perfect but I found some real people on there and it’s a great place to just shoot out your post. I also now unfollow people after I see they ain’t worth following. If I could have either site I would take Twitter. Twitter’s potential in terms of technology and real time communication via every medium is awesome. I would do like Google does and sell links. Twitter is to big now for Google to do a damn thing to I would have Premium pages with strong page rank I would sell to companies. I would also immediately have the @ work like on Facebook. If I could just @ NAME man I would be really rocking on twitter.

So what site do you think is better ? What site would you take if you could own either one…

Facebook vs TwitterIf you had to give up one account which would it be ?

What site do you think is better for Bloggers ?

Thanks :)

    Interesting post John…

For me I’d do this… which means I’d have top take facebook in that sense, as they really do have the ready made twitter rival as I said there. ;)

Make sure that never ever goes down, crashes, whatever, and people would flock to it everytime twitter went down… after a while they’d just use it more.

    That’s what I would say ;)

    Hi John,

It’s a subject that interests me a lot. I’d like to know the actual figures in terms of how each effect a site’s Google listing position (as back-links). I just saw your link to this article on Facebook.

One of my twitter accounts just went PR6 and a number of others I setup within the last 3 months went PR5.

I find twitter and Linkedin a nice combination. I do Facebook because I have to but I find it quite painful. It doesn’t have the focus on a subject that you can have in a discussion on Linkedin or the purpose of twitter. You can loose days in there!

I guess what I like about Facebook is that people get to know “me”… It’s not a 1 second burst or link share, but it’s about allowing potential customers see who I am. That’s important to me. I’ve gotten more traffic through Facebook (probably because it’s where I am most active) and some conversion, but my business goes beyond blogging, maybe that’s the difference?

A lot of it is people skills which you have and I don’t :)
      I don’t miss Facebook but I do miss U LOL :)
Glad to see this topic enticed you I will be writing about facebook everyday now :)
And yes it would be WAY easier and different to be around NY even up in the fine area your in or anywhere in NY then the backwards ass Twilight Zone spot I’m in now AKA San Antonio :) I say that because if there were people here worth knowing I would go around and hook up with them but there’s not I checked :)
I hope to be in NY this summer mostly Rochester then back to Key West :)

    Hi guys,

I would say that Twitter is better for bloggers. But I would not compare Facebook with Twitter. Because they both share their own purpose. Facebook is more sociable then Twitter to me.

    Kind regards,

Hmmm, I will have to admit that other than bookmarking links, I never really checked out Facebook. Like at all….. The reason? I was too burnt out by Myspace to care about FB. But I’ve heard a lot about people getting traffic from there, so maybe I should look more into it. I’m just now getting more into the swing of things with Twitter, and I’m liking it so far. I’m not a phone person, and to an extent even not an IM person. I like the ability to send out quick little messages, and having convos that way. It seems to work well with my ADHD :D So for now I would have to say Twitter FTW! :)

Facebook is for really building relationships. People seem to want to know you better as a person on Facebook. Twitter is still a manipulative sales landscape. Sometimes I just send out test Tweets just to see how many sales I can make. It works.

    Hey man!

Yah – I don’t really “get” Facebook. Where does anyone find the time to play those stupid games?

I am an avid Twitter user and I am saavy enough to know that the LESS people you follow, the better you can communicate…

I also like the @name feature in Facebook. It would make it tat much easier to converse with people via Twitter if they had this feature too.

    So, Twitter Rules!

    Cheers!

    @donpower
