eGoogle Page Rank Update- Smackdown

DO FOLLOW BLOGS STILL  rule (NOT!) LOL. Thanks to the Penguin and Panda algorithm updates, Google has really devalued comment links from blogs, to virtually worthless. The bogus PageRank update on May 2, 2012, was a minor export and Google continues to hoard the green juice.Facebook vs Twitter

Google Page Rank Update

Wow I WAS trying to start off a nice Saturday morning checking out what’s popping and read a msg about Google Page Rank Updating their notorious page rank. Oh shit refresh and see that 3 I was stung a little bit to be honest. I would of totally freaked if it was a zero and when assessing how my luck and getting goals accomplished been  lately it wouldn’t of surprised me much but I guess all is not lost.

I was thinking and hopefully one day will truly appreciate just how hard blogging actually is. I don’t mean writing post or trying to TRICK your friends into clicking something Finally and all that but there are no real shortcuts. Unless your RICH :)

I have been at a place once or twice where I was going to quit blogging. It hurts deep sometimes to be struggling and then have to read how some fucking guru made $7,293 while taking a shit on his toilet. Yeah it can get you down at times.

twitter

All these setbacks just make me stronger. I was sloppy last time and think my not commenting on other blogs as much hurt. Who knows but I will say the trick in blogging is seeing that your success is really related to whether you take setbacks as new challenges or use them as excuses to fall out and QUIT.  Sadly I have seen thousands get discouraged and fall out. Happily I can say I’m just getting started. Sometimes you to have to tweak your time frames, mindset, efforts, whatever it takes.

Once your determined to make it NOTHING is going to stop YOU.

Well since BloggerLUV got a PR3 maybe I will use this as an excuse to get snapping on that :)

Skill comes when your able to spot what doesn’t work and switch back to what you know does WORK :)

One thing you can rest assured even if I was a PR 0 your links will always be followed here.

This is what I do

1 Assess the problem

2 Fix the Problem

3 Move on

I wanted to Thank Karen from Blazing Minds for the Guest Post I recently did about adding Videos to your post for effect. Here is a PageRank video from Matt Cutts.

I’m actually just getting started. Thanks everyone for all your support -Back to the LAB.

What were your Google Page Rank Update Results ?

I don’t write post about Alexa and Page Rank NOT mattering when I have a set back like you often see. If I want something I redouble my efforts till I get it even if I have to make it HAPPEN :)
Peace

Keep Your chin UP, one day I will own and run Google, and create a massive privacy fence to keep people out and us in!

Thanks for the compliment on the site, you like it? I still have some kinks to work out…

Don’t sweat the page rank BS, my buddy’s site dropped from a PR3 down to a 2 but he gets 200k views a month and makes well over $100 per day on it, so look at the things that matter PR isn’t one of them!

    • John Sullivan@Soon to be Homeless bloggers that are glad it's almost Summer :) says:

It matters to me especially when I’m telling people I will build them powerful sites and mine is a whacked PR3 :(
      WAAA
Ah fuck em let’s write that ebook :)

  2. PageRank Information says:

My static web site has been knocked down to PR3, but it always fluctuates between PR4 and PR3 and this has been going on for about 2 years now.

It doesn’t matter because my KW are still performing strongly in SERP, as long as I’m still getting the same hits & visits as before, its all good!

  3. Tycoon Blogger @Promote a Blog says:

I am still stuck on 2…maybe they didn’t get to me yest :-) Oh well…Maybe Google is pissed at me because i make $$ with sponsored posts…

Here is the crazy part, my 11 year had a blog and he writes 2-3 posts per month, never promotes his blog, never comments and only has like 10 incoming links to his blog (all from my blog) and he just got a pr 2. I am definitely happy for him….but how can he have the same pr as my site that I update 4-5 times per week , have thousands on links coming in…I constantly on the front page of pr5 social networking sites like BlogEngage and BloggerDen as well as pr 5 link from Blogger choice awards…on and on and on.

Maybe I will stop trying to get PR and see what happens on the next PR because clearly my efforts for the past 6 months has not paid off.

Here is the thing though, my adsense in rising, my traffic is rising, my alexa ranking is rocking, and I am ranking well for my target keywords. My Google traffic has been through the roof lately. Who knows….

  4. Extreme John says:

Man I thought you were smarter then that bro, can’t let that silly ass Google PR number even effect a stride. Do what your doing and be your own worst critic, worry about the number when it actually matters.

  5. rob sellen says:

PR means shit.. mine went back up to 4 by the way. :P

Oh wait, so what? lol… ;) The only main reason i pleased it went up was could I thought it may go down from 3 with the recent move to WP from blogger. But hey ho… went up again back to 4.

Keith, ya blog looks good mate.

I couldn’t tell you what PR is based on, you get more traffic than me John, more comments, hey tycoonblogger… stop trying, that’s what I was gonna say, and you alluded to it, google doesn’t want us “trying” to manipulate in anyway, though basic SEO can’t be ignored.

I have never once tried or even thought about PR, google must notice that. ;)

  6. 113Tidbits says:

I was privy to the blood-letting massacre of 2007 and really wrote off the whole PR thing for a coule of years. Now i pretty much take the same stance that you have.

But it did feel good to get my directory of sites bumped from a “0″ to a “2″ this morning. I won’t be holding my breath to keep it though.

    Stay strong!

  7. Kikolani says:

Sorry to hear yours dropped, but I think if you’re telling people you’ll build powerful sites, PR isn’t what really counts to them (unless they are an SEO selling links on the homepage). Traffic, high ranking keywords, lots of social mentions – that is powerful.

Mine maintained… I read your post on my phone hours before I got to check, so I was super curious when I got home.

    • John Sullivan says:

@Kikolani: I have had your blog open a while
I was glad you stayed at 4 you should be 5
I found I comment more and Quicker when I’m on there LOL :)
Just kidding and YES you are right about that Guess I just wrote this post about some of the REAL DEAL stuff
      Thanks again :)

  8. FLOATING POINT NUMBER JOHN. So, lets say you were a PR 3.45555568 but in the toolbar you would see a PR 4. Now also lets say 1,000 more links were added into the pages that all of the links to your site were on and your REAL FLOATING POINT NUMBER dropped to a 3.444444444 then the toolbar would show PR 3, so technically your REAL PR is basically the same but the toolbar is only whole numbers. WORD.

  9. Peter Holiday says:

    Huh!
    Nice result to be honest!
That update has lastly proved that I know something in SEO!I’ve actually made my zero site – PR4!
    Great isn’t it?

  10. Anne Bender says:

Well, I went from a 2 to a 3 and get almost no traffic and make almost no money from it. Go figure. My writing site maintained at 2. I don’t know what it all means, so I just go with it means nothing until it starts to mean something. ;)

  11. Kenneth Chadwick says:

My main website that I’ve really been working on only went from a PR1 to PR2 but some of the internal pages went PR3 however, a lousy 3 page website I threw up in couple of hours has gone PR4
    Ken

  12. Google Fence Information says:

Now I feel bad “bragging” lol (well when you see the numbers you will see it’s not too much to brag about lol but I’m NEW :P ) My older site went from a 1 to a 2, and my new site I started in January went from a 0 to a 1. Not the biggest leap, but at the point I’m at (just starting out), I’ll take it!!! :D And keep your head up, it will go back up for sure next update!

  13. PageRank Information says:

I hope your affiliate links are nofollow; they should be nofollow according to Google. Also page (esp home page) should not take a lot of time in loading among other things that matter for PR. Google sucks in many ways, just the same.

  14. Brian D. Hawkins says:

You know what? I like that attitude John. “All these setbacks just make me stronger”

Best quote of the week, “Happily I can say I’m just getting started. Sometimes you to have to tweak your time frames, mindset, efforts, whatever it takes”.

I stayed a PR of three on my index page but went down to a N/A on the secondary pages.

On those tweets about Google… Don’t hold back John, say what you mean lol

BTW, looks like some tweaking going on with my comment count ;)

  15. Keith@Norman Rockwell Art says:

I am still holding steady at PR3, even though I have waaay more incoming links than a year ago.

Still, I can’t dis big G too much. Back, two months ago, when they featured Norman Rockwell as the Google Doodle, I made my whole month in a single day. All I can say is I want more Google doodles!

Keep up your hard work, John, and don’t let BS like PR bother you, bro. What matters is your community and the bottom line.

  16. Dragon Blogger says:

My pagerank was still 2, 3, and 0 respectively on all 3 of my blogs, no change at all from last update. Your comment about being discouraged and frustrated by bloggers making thousands per month is exactly why I wrote the post I did this morning.

  17. Klaus @ TechPatio says:

Sorry to hear about your pagerank decrease – but hey, look at it from the bright side, now you’re on the same pagerank level as me. That means, we’re now Pagerank buddies … or something like that :)

Just keep up your good pot politic work and you’ll be PR-zillion before you know it (*cross fingers*).

  18. Michael Aulia says:

My PageRank went down from 4 to 3 :( well I know it won’t be easy to maintain a high PR anyway (not without a ridiculous amount of hard work, at least)

Like, sometimes I got jealous to those who trick people into buying and clicking, getting thousands of dollars while I have to be satisfied with a couple of hundreds. But again, I’ll still be grateful to be able to get a couple of hundreds a month!

    Keep it up John!

  19. The New Fulcrum Point says:

Page rank changed the web and it’s not an easy task to get high PR..

  20. baby shoes soft says:

I think no one know exactly except Google but there are some sign like a rank changed or index decrease or increase extra ordinary…Thanks..

  21. Sean says:

Hell, I was able to rank one of my blogs to a pr4 and the damn thing is was only 2-3 weeks old when it was given the 4! I’m still trying to figure out how that was possible.

  22. Fuyuko says:

Everyone seems to think nothing good came from the panda update but there has been a lot of good things. I actually have noticed my site go from PR0 to PR2 but remember PR isn’t everything. Page Rank doesn’t make you rank in the top of google because even sites with high PR don’t rank so being upset about your PR dropping might not even effect where you stand in google if you’ve done your homework of course. Many people think that simply pumping out a lot of high quality backlinks or spaming backlinks will do it but SEO is about much more. Content is number one and the amount of content and the quality at which you publish it is so important.
