What flavor is your blog ?

What flavor is your blog ? I wanted to mention some of the different blog flavors out there and the most important reason is to look at what flavor are you leaving people with when they leave your blog, the impact on them and if they will  come back or NOT.

Super Sweet Blogs : Super sweet blogs are the ones where the blogger always has something nice to say and it doesn’t deviate from it’s positive message. Blogs like this are usually popular because I don’t think many people come to your blog looking to leave feeling worse then when they enetered. I have often added vinegar and all kinds of spices to try and prove a point. I think this recipe is  many times counterproductive because people are going to do what they want regardless.

TwitterKING

Super Spicy :Many of my posts could be considered spicy. But the reality is that they are all actually sweet. I never write things to intentionally hurt someone. I may add some spice to prove  a point but am starting to think that may just be a waste of time.

Salty : A salty blog or post is one where the blogger is  writing one thing but saying another. I may write about some blogging tips while at the same time taking pop shots at people and sometimes particular people. Salty is sometimes necessary but often not a nice spice to add, I know blogging is not always  the sweet meal we thought it would be.

Sweet and Sour : I would like to think that my blog is like this. I can be as sweet as the sweetest but often I see things that make me sour and add to much salt to my post. This meal may make you feel better temporarily but may lead to eating by yourself. If people don’t like broccoli and that is what your serving every post then the results will come. Sweet and sour to me also means you take risks and confront things you don’t agree with. ANYONE can write posts about linking, marketing etc and they get bland because everyone is serving that up. Sure they may get a good response but like Chinese food  it wears off quick. I like to mix it up, adding links, keywords to others and never make a meal just for myself. Sweet and sour can also be used when looking at a blog ‘s design. Recently I was on a friends popular blog and was thinking GOD this blog is F-UGLY. I thought to maybe say something to my friend but then thought maybe he likes spinach :)

Bland : Today I was thinking about Darren’s blog at Problogger. To me that is a great blog but bland. To many guest posts, topics that are older then dust reworked and added back to the mix. These meals appeal to everyone sort of like Mc Donald’s. Also bland blogs overtime do well because there are constantly new people that like Mc Donald’s , everyone  heard of Mickey D’s before. I could easily write generic post about blogging, blogging tips and linking and maybe I will just start doing that. NOT LOL

The main point is I think every blogger should assess what flavor their blog is. Some bloggers find a right mix and adding  the right ingredients are everything to a blog.

What taste are you leaving people with when they leave your blog ?

Describe the flavor you think your blog is Thanks.

Interesting note about Problogger – I actually do read it and to me it sounds pretty good.

Most likely because I don’t have much of anything interesting to say for myself – I am not a writer, just have things to share.

What a great post John, thinking a bit out of the box there, what did the box have written on it? :P

I have to say, I agree with you saying this blog here, (the one that no-one reads?! :D ) is a sweet and sour, mixing it up nicely by the looks of it, put it this way, I never know what to expect when I come here! ;)

I also agree that Darrens, while full of some great content ?(alot regurgitated over and over though) is bland, very easy to get bored on that blog, much like Brogans, less the great content! :P

I bet ya friend does like his spinach! :D

I am unsure what of those I’d class mine as, sweet and sour was my first thought, simply because I mix things up at times, always have done.

What are others thoughts about which mine is? That’s the question… ;)

Just as you asked here… it’s what the readers think that counts .

Nicely done John. :D

Made me hungry!

Wow, I’d have to go with the site’s name…my blog is just me. I guess it depends on the day of the week – never know what each day holds – I’m paying closer attention to not being all over the place. Man, does that mean I have NO flavor? Transparent….. like water? Wow. How do you label a person who only talks about their dog, children, faith, and vegan lifestyle….. I don’t know.

Always on the creative side nd getting people talking John, nice work. I would like to think that my blog is something along the lines of my favorite steak in regards to flavor… Oh wait.. Not that kind of flava flave..

You know me, I don’t have one flavor really. I’m more of a buffet.
