in life

18 years ago today March 3rd was the best day of my life. I was the proud father of a beautiful daughter named Shannon, I always wanted a daughter named Shannon. I was in her life till she was four. Since then it has been a long dream that just never went the way I hoped.

I don’t like any situation where no matter what you do your wrong, what you did or try to do wasn’t good enough, let’s be honest and add the million times I disappointed her.

My main goal and hope is that I can go up this summer and spend some quality time with her, just be myself and let her know that I really do love her and want her to be Happy. In anything in life we have to do the best we can and people will always want to take us back to some mistakes we made back in the 90’s or whatever and we probably have it coming but when it’s all said and done we must try to do better and my hope is that as Shannon enters this adult period of her life my not being there in the past doesn’t effect her negatively and that as an adult I can be there for her.

Have any love long lost stories to share and how it worked out Thanks

Happy Birthday Shannon

Hi John,
Beautiful songs.. it’s good to see a softer side of you. Parenthood, the love of a father to his lovely daughter. :-) Happy Birthday to Shannon. If she can read this, I really wish to tell her she is blessed for having a father who cares for her so much. I think there’s no love that is greater than a parent to his/her child. I really hope to treasure that when I still have the chance. Here’s to all parents in the world too, best wishes.

Hey John,

A post tinged with happiness and sadness, sorry to hear you don’t get to see her as often as you would like, as a dad myself I can relate to it big time.

Hard work and never easy being a parent, any dick can be a dad, takes a man to be a father though.

A big happy 18th birthday to Shannon, wish her all the best of luck, love and happiness in her future, no doubt now she is 18 she will also have grown mentally and emotionally stronger and thinking more about things with a different perspective.

Hopefully your relationship will only get closer and stronger from here on. :D

My eldest son (got two sons) is 17 in two weeks and I separated from their mum years ago, yet I have always stayed in their lives having them every weekend and holidays where I can etc, I am glad and grateful we were able to do that.
So many men just don’t bother with their kids sadly, yet their are also some who would do anything to change that, sadly the mums can often stop it and in effect use their kids like pawns in a game… without a thought to what it does to the kiss too… those types of women are unbelievably selfish.

But damn, where did that time go?
It seem’s T’was only yesterday I helped deliver him to the world. :)

I have come to realise the most important thing is that our kids know we love them and are there for them no matter what.

Ain’t no doubt ya love ya daughter mate, she is a young woman now and no doubt she loves her old man, I mean dad. ;)

Damn we are getting old!

Best of luck in your future with Shannon too.

My daughter (Avery) is turning 5 next month, and I don’t get to see her much right now, but thanks to Skype, I have video calls with her several times a week.

That is such a heartfelt article. I feel sure that Shannon is going to realize what a great dad she has. I think we all make mistakes with our kids and there are lots of things we would like to go back and change. But, all we can do is deal with today and keep trying to do better. Wishing the best for both of you.
