Building momentum for your blog

in America,bloggers,blogging,blogging tips

No doubt everyone who is making even a half hearted effort in blogging wants to get  something out of it, otherwise why bother?

Now that WE KNOW we will never understand why 98.9 % of bloggers do things that don’t make much sense and we’re in that group how do we brake away and not turn into some well known jerk like we see to often. Or better yet how can we start scaling our efforts to start accumulating vast assets that are   tangible and  we gain so rapidly that they exponentially grow at Warren Buffet kind of rates.

If you think that the only thing your going to aspire to is another mediocre blogger that goes nuts chasing a buck I got news for you, if that is what you think is going to happen then that is what is  going to happen.

I found in my life even when it was obvious that out of fear or self hate I would sabotage myself and TRUE enough be sitting right where I wish I wasn’t but knew that I was the ONLY ONE that got me there.

If you build something with your mind and FAIL many times but don’t QUIT you will be able to build things that are advanced because by all your errors you now have mastered the very thing that caused you problems. Look I’m no preacher but if you have been coming around here over time and for some crazy reason stuck by me and my blog
Thank You
:)

I just wanted to write a mini post. I ‘m working on a HOT WOMEN BLOGGERS post and I will have that out tonight or today :)

Anyway keep your chin up and I really just wanted to ask YOU what are you doing to BUILD momentum to your blog ?

Tell us exactly or get a BEAT DOWN :) LOL j/k but pls share some exciting things you have going on. If you don’t have any exciting going on in your life today call me I will give you something to DO :)

Pls share where your from if I don’t know you I’m looking to move SOMEWHERE out there Thanks

Have a great weekend Thanks

Hm… what am I doing just now… Great time to ask – I’ve just started a new plan on twitter (based on a hunch) to prepare people for my types of posts a day before they’re due out by retweeting my older posts of the same type. Example, today is review day, so for yesterday I tweeted my old review posts again.

Other than that, I actually have a few guest posts planned that I’ll be writing tomorrow, and a webcomic due out again on Sunday. Having a great time! :D

I believe keeping track of news and popular blogs and ‘writing’ about the latest happenings in your relevant niche will add to the momentum. Along with some guest posts and interaction within a community (like your bloggerluv community) is sure to get a blog rolling.

BTW, I won’t call you mediocre ;-)

I had some problem like this, like I got bored of my blog or sometimes I just wanted to deleted my blog, but then I hired an SEO, he started working and now I am having a good design with a very good income from my blog too. Thanks SEO!

My best luck with keeping the momentum up yet is letting the link love flow and turning it over to the crowd. With a forum and bookmarking site up, I can be sure that someone is adding content at all times (even if I have to go back and clean up the off-topic stuff and pill salesmen).

Other than that, well, always being on the look out for new places to promote and trying to beat last month’s post count :D

Oh yeah, you don’t wanna get stuck in Jacksonville. I think about trying to get outta here myself, but its hard to leave good friends even if they live in a lame town.

For me, momentum is all about content. Day in day out, keep the regular scheduled posts coming. Of course you have to have passion, of course you have to submit your blog and comment on others.

On a secondary note, I find that adaptation is equally as important as momentum. If you have momentum, but are headed in the wrong direction, you’ll get to nowhere faster.

I had a blog I just couldn’t get readers for … and you know why? It was a selfish project and didn’t connect with people. No matter the umph, it didn’t grow.

Also, I’m not trying to knock you here, but I don’t like your page design. It is difficult to read, and the way you parse the pictures makes it worse. I like the pictures, yes but weird layout. Also, I wasn’t sure what the post was about? Was it about momentum? Err…. or hot blogging chicks?

As mentioned above, why don’t you get the ball rolling with content first by saying, “Here’s what I think creates momentum. X, Y , Z …”.

Your petition for OUR HELP seemed like you didn’t know what you were talking about. We need YOUR HELP. That’s why we came here. We, the consumer WANT something, and I FEEL LIKE YOU GAVE US NOTHING.

ALSO, you USE caps LIKE a spaz. THIS ISN’T CLEVER – ITS ACTUALLY HARD to read.

You seem like a straight shooter, and I like that. In that spirit, I got tell you straight – I’m probably never coming back to your blog. Not out of spite, but because WHY THE HELL WOULD I?

You tell me first, then I’ll debate you in my nofollow comments on MY BLOG.

For me I try to keep my momentum going by doing a little bit of everything each day to move my blog forward. If I don’t feel like writing, I will focus on promotion. If I do not feel like promotion, I will do sometging else. The bottom line is that I find work on my blog projects every single day without fail. I have also been focused on networking with other bloggers and I have been making an effort to get involved with certain blogging communities like Blog Engage, MMO Social Network and of course Blogger Luv.

I am trying to build momentum on my blog by posting frequently. I see that my blog traffic is now going decrease, because of less posting frequency.

I also trying to build more network on social media sites, so that I can get more traffic from there.

Interesting post and I really like your challenge at the end :)

Personally, it really depends on your niche, but for my computer services site, which is where I sell my services, I try to make posts that are informative and describe what I am doing. For example, if I have to learn how to do something new or try a new program I like to make a how to post that shows others how to use it. I do this a lot for when I use a program and have to tweak it to get it to work. From my experience this ends up drawing a whole new type of crowd, as well as being a nice source of link bait. Further, it feels like I am giving back a little bit…

I just found your blog and am really glad I did. I’m taking the advice of giving away something of quality to gain some momentum. Hopefully, it helps because doing the same thing over and expecting different results is just plain insanity. Anyway, love what you’re doing here – subscribing.

Hey John great site you have here. I use the reference from commenters as a measure as well. Not in number but what they say about you. Looked at a few past post, and been coming around for your motivational attitude. So I included this blog in my latest post. Hope you didn’t mind. Peace bro, and keep smokin’em!

Hi John,

Thanks for connecting on FB – just one of many great social networks that bring you into contact with a heap of interesting people – and feed momentum nicely too ( as long as you have enough time to blog yourself …. of course)

Cheers

I’m just having a fairly relaxed day here. Took a long walk outside, spent time with the kids and finally got around to re-arranging the wardrobe. Oh, and I posted one post on my main blog and now checking out other peoples’ blog.

Hmmmm, probably not very inspiring for other bloggers seeking new methods to increase productivity ;)

BTW, Chrome still bringing up that warning on BloggerLuv :(

Hi,

Well, I try to write articles that will be interesting, relevant and useful to my readers, which is something that can really take up a good deal of time, especially because I like to verify the information and sources.
I also offer benefits to the subscribers and followers.
My blog doesn’t get zillions of visitors, but it has been growing steady in terms of visits and search engine results.
I’m betting in organic growing.

Best regards,

José

Hi John,
Great question. The GAB blog in it’s current form is less than two months old. We’ve built momentum by posting twice daily. One is a short read series and the other is usually longer. We’ve also opened the community side of GAB which means that anyone can write for us. We’ve had some great folks write for us.

We also use Twitter and Facebook as well as getting out there and reading other peoples work. As a result, we’ve gone from over 8.5 million on Alexa to a little over 500k. Not bad for 46 days ;)

I have found visiting others brings the most traffic, but being personable and having something to say that people want to hear and care about keeps them coming back.

I haven’t been up to much lately, but will driving up to JMU later this week as Amanda will be auditioning for the All-State [VA] Band on Clarinet. I recently purchased a FLIP with some sweepstakes winnings from last year and plan to record the process [what I can at least]. With a little luck I’ll have something posted on my site early next week. :)

Right now the only thing I’m doing is trying to fill my blog with entertaining material and interesting stuff from my point of view. Probably not enough, I know. Unless I’m one of the most interesting persons on the planet, which I’m not. I really do need to make some sort of plan to build some momentum for my blog. I’ve been thinking about doing some guest posts on other blogs… but I’m too critical and judgmental of myself to take the plunge and ask someone/write up a post for someone. I don’t take rejection very well! hah

The one thing I did today that will be most powerful for us all was to ask UAW if they would consider creating a solution to allow bloggers to create private and public syndications to share unique versions of our content and generate unique versions of our blog posts to use as guest posts. I’ll let you all know what they answer.

In the meantime I am adding all DoFollow CommentLuv KeywordLuv blogs to my soon to be even more popular KeywordLuv Lists post and offering to publish even more great links to benefit the blogs, favorite businesses, and great causes of all who participate in my BizLuv MEME.

Do you want more incoming links with your favorite anchor text to your site? If yes all you have to do is let me know.

Are you not sure why you would care? Then you have to read my Building Traffic post because you really SHOULD care and that tells you why it is important to you.

Momentum: I don’t like to fail. Isn’t that enough of one? I like to write. I like to read. Now if I have enough time to read/write/comment in one day then all’s good in the world.

Glad that GrowMap stumbled you. This is such a good blog I already sent links to friends who don’t tweet (can you imagine)? Yeah, neither can I.

Virginia Beach. Highly recommend it, especially in the off-season. Unless of course you like the college party crowd. Then come with A LOT of money.

I’m still looking for the momentum. Just new to the blogging world and there is soooo much “to learn”. Where does one begin? Not sure how small biz owners can manage a business, blog, commenting, tweeting…really? Drive I have. Momentum? When I find it I will let you know.

Stumbled over here via GrowMap’s recommendation. Nice blog. I even sent links to friends who don’t tweet (can you believe that)? Yeah I can’t either.

I found the best momentum is feeding off those who comment about me or my company and the another is from my fellow bloggers who keep me on the straight and narrow. OK, maybe not straight, er um, not so narrow either.

Anyway, nothings better than seeing your hard work panning out.

Virginia Beach. Great place to live and play, especially during the off season. If you don’t mind partying with college kids, then come during the on season. And bring A LOT of money.

Indeed, momentum is a necessity in a blog or else you will meet the end point one day, lucky for me, my blog is about computers and tech so my momentum is to chase the latest technology that is incoming for new ideas on what to write.

Hi John,
Been following your blog off and on for some time now. I always enjoy your directness. I live in China at present but thinking of coming back home to the US before too much longer. If you can live here but pull your earnings from there you could do quite nicely.

As for building momentum for my blog.. Well I am just starting out, as in like no one has even been to my blog yet. Yeah, so this is one of the things I am doing (starting to comment on the other blogs I read). Thinking of throwing together some squidoo pages too or something. I don’t know, the whole SEO thing is just mind boggling for me, certainly not something I want to spend time on but I can’t see as I have much choice if I want my blog to be seen.

Yeah, my blog is pretty plain too, just the default WP Theme, very boring. I am running into the problem of wordpress.com being prohibitively slow from here (yeah, it must be expected considering my location, but it is not a problem on any other sites), so it looks like hosting my blog free on wordpress.com isn’t going to work so well, I am going to have to set up a proper blog on a proper host. They have too many restrictions anyway. I had been thinking that I may be able to leverage the fact that the site was on the wordpress domain which is a well ranked domain, but now I am thinking that any advantage which may be gained from that will be outweighed by all the disadvantages of not actually having much control. Plus from here it is just so slow that every tiny change takes 10 minutes (that is why it is still so plain).

One thing which I have seen really help build some serious momentum in record time on a few other blogs is controversy. I suspect you know all about that already though.

Keep up the great work man

What am I upto..? well apart from giving myself a headache by downing too much Tanduay (Philippino Rhum! well it is the weekend guys), I’ve just watched a video by Matt Cutts that says if you convert your blog to a DoFollow blog then you run the risk of harming your site authority & reputation Argh
?@&$ !!!
So I have spent a Tanduay soaked afternoon trying to elaborate on this damned video, trying to find is he telling the truth or talking ball hooks !
On top of this I am thinking up a new article for my blog & also writing up a proposed new theme that I need to get coded. Oh and lets not forget about the constant battle with page loading times hahaha, but damn my head is thumping and there just aint enough hours in a day hahaha

Time for a break I reckon
