Blogging and Taxes

in blogging tips

When New York State smacked a $638.oo lien on my bank account and my payment for my hosting got jammed up and my blog was down I was upset for about 5 minutes. I learned in this day and age that you can often be doing the best you can only to get smacked down, by the government, some business or a so called friend.

I used the time as a BRAKE and was able to see what I need to do to move forward. I learned alot and it was a good experience for me. I was able to make enough to pay of my various tabs so now things for Christmas are looking better :)
I did for a minute think about quitting. Or at least using a different blog as my main blog but I’m not a quitter in fact I’m going to be whipping out so many ideas and cool stuff I hope you can keep UP :)
Thanks to my few friends that showed some concern while I was down to the rest DO YOU :)

I know a blogger can only get so far on their own ;)

Have you come close to just Quitting ? Not me I don’t quit until I won :) thanks

John, I am glad you are back. I was worried something had happened to you. Glad to hear it was only money and not something physical.

As for your bank account, you should never hold that in your own name. You should do business as an entity such as an LLC or Trust. That way, they need a court order to steal your money. If a bank turns over that entities funds without a court order, you will have a claim against that bank. A big claim! Don’t take my word, do some research on how to protect your funds.

Very excited to have you back bro. It sucks how the gov’t is trying to squeeze everything they can out of people while they are going mental spending their way to death. Never give up bro – everyday is a struggle, just learn from it and move on.

It’s nice to be back here. I hope everything’s going well for you, John.
I’ve been blogging for a while though not as long as you do, I may have encountered a lot of downturns especially when trying to maintain my blog while at the same time monetize it.

This blogging thing still baffles me…I hope I can last long like you do. Cheers to your success!

I was actually starting to worry about you, then realized you were probably just kicking back and smoking some chronic — and had FORGOTTEN to pay your domain or hosting tab!

This is something I’ve been meaning to ask other bloggers about. I haven’t paid any tax on my earnings yet because they are below the threshold in the country I live in.

I guess the best advice would be to get yourself a decent accountant and let them make sure you never get fined or lose money down to poor financial management.

I feel for you though $600+ is quite a bit to lose!

Glad to hear that you never quit, that would of been the easy way out and I can’t say I know you like that :)

Glad you got your blog back up John. Yea, paying taxes does bite, but I believe it is a necessary evil.

I have had periods of downtime when I just didn’t feel like writing, and I also have periodic thoughts of selling(100,000 to first buyer).
