Google sends the wrong amount on adsense check

So your like me just a regular goof trying this blogging deal for a while now and your a little excited when you notice despite the really shitty amounts google adsense pays, you have past the hundred dollar point and  notice the payment link notifying sending of a payment.

Since Google takes nanoseconds to take your money and weeks to send it your not really sweating the $108.23 that will come to your mailbox when they are good and ready to send it. So you don’t pay it much attention until.

As  your strolling to the mailbox , low and behold you see the envelope from Google and a little smile comes upon your face because you know how hard it is to get even that shitty amount from Google.

You know Google’s  a pretty honest company making billions so they have no need to short you so you don’t think much of it until your back inside and open the envelope.

$108,230.56 is the amount you see on the check and your mind goes into some FREEZE mode for a second thinking this must be some kind of joke, then you quickly realize they made a mistake and a BIG one at that.

So what would you do ? would you cash it ? Be honest and REALLY tell me what you would do THANKS.

I will add my answer in the comment section when I get back from the bank, thanks………….

cash it any day of the week. A big corporation might not even notice the mistake.

There’s really no question, unless you think that Google WON’T catch it and come after you. Surely they will eventually catch it. Now if they send a similar amount the next month, I might really be tempted.

I’d say “Cash The Check!” as quickly as possible.

Even if they discover the error — they will need to hire an attorney and sue to recover the overpayment.

Meanwhile, you can INVEST the money and earn $$$ while you’ve got custody of the cash!

It will take about 6 months to 1 year, for their case to go thru the legal system.

Just don’t put your money into Greenery, or anything that is not legal in your neck of the woods! (LOL)

Blimey what a tough decision, my first response would be to cash it and then let them try and sort their own cock up out, my second response would be probably more honest and say get in touch with them and tell them they have made a mistake and you would surely welcome the check but you don’t want to burn in hell for been dishonest

This is not a tough decision! You cancel the check and let then know! If you cash that Google will get their money back and you may be looking to use another PPC company faster then you know it!

I wouldn’t cash it if I knew it didn’t belong to me. Although I do like the idea of taking custody of it and investing it until they figure it out and want it back.

I would contact Google and not cash the check. I received my check the other day for the amount of $104.87. I was happy as it’s free and easy money.

I would cash it and see what happens. The worst they could do is ask for it back right?

I think I will cash it and invest it in bonds or time deposit. It will earn money for me by the time I need to give it back.

Bonds or Time Deposit? they only pay Two Percent (2%) on your money.

The only way to make money (short term) is to invest in undervalued stocks, ones that have huge upside potential. There are a lot of turnaround companies to invest in right now.

Hmm.. Not easy.. What legal grounds do they have to stand on if I were to cash a check they sent me?
Honestly, I got no moral or ethical concerns about getting more free money out of a company with enough to go around, but I would worry about the possible consequences

cash it and send me the money you IDIOT what are you NUTS.. oh sorry got carried away alittle bit.. you know if you cash it they will find out the mistake soon enough.. your luck they would find the mistake as soon as you spent the last penny. If they made this mistake with you I wonder how many other mistakes they have made that was not sent back to them..

it would just be something else that you are always looking over your shoulder for.. waiting for the other shoe to drop.. I would rather have piece of mind

I think I’d probably cash it, but not spend the money until I know they haven’t noticed it.

That’s some mistake though!

Just stumbled your blog for the first time and click this interesting post :)

This is tough… but I’ll say encash it, and keep it safe. If they will not notice their mistake, then you’re lucky.. But if they discover their mistake and ask you to return their money, no problem, as long as the money is still intact… :D

I wouldn’t cash it but that’s just me, besides they will figure it out eventually and if there is one company you don’t want to mess with online it is google.

I agree with Dan. Keyword, you said it yourself, mistake. Now if you had just not known it was a mistake… may be a different story. Is it worth getting your site completely banned from Google for life, and potential criminal charges?

I guess the irony is… at least you know the check is good. Especially by posting it publicly, I guess if it was me, I would have cashed the check, not posted on a blog, put it on my off shore account and waited a month until the next check came. You could have at least said you thought you won some contest you entered online ;-) .

Deposit the check and wait.

They will know the mistake when the poor dude that was supposed to get the big $$ goes screaming to customer service.

Tell them that you have people who take care of things like that and you’ll have someone contact them soon.

Then wait some more.

Then tell the IRS it’s not real money.
