I gotta tell you that i loved the everlast song and video, about the twitter thing, At the begining i used to take a lot of time, when marketers invaded my twitter i stopped writting elaboratted answers, i just say what it comes to my mind, and if they dont like it, well, its twitter after all, meet me in real person or call me, but dont expect I execute artistic stuff in 140 characters

Among many topics you've touched on today, I feel like you're a male version of me!

"If your not happy in an apartment there’s a good chance you won’t be happy in a house."

My partner and I were just discussing this very topic. I suffer from depression too periodically, and ever since we've grabbed this apartment in NY, (which has made me very happy), I still go through my episodes. So, she said to me, "Well, now that we're in a better place, shouldn't this make you happy? Why are you sad still?" And I simply told her that it had nothing to do with where I am, where I live, how much money I have - depression hits everyone regardless of fiances.

On another note, I have to agree wtih ashok, in the comment above... There are so many different types of bloggers with so many different subjects. Also, there are many bloggers as well as blog readers, who just don't leave comments, but are avid readers of your website. I just had a lady who emailed me recently who stated that she has been reading my blog for 4 years now, but has never commented. It's amazing what you don't know behind your blog... Believe me, there are more people reading than you think!

I love your style of writing by the way! :) Very entertaining.

I always try to respond, but sometimes I'm literally on my way out the door and can't. I'm just like the previous commenter in that it takes me a while to write a 140 character response. I know it shouldn't, but I'm sick that way.

If I had my way, my blog would be nothing but humor posts, but those are a lot harder to write than most people think; and, there's almost no blogging benefit other than keeping my regular readers happy and occasionally gaining a new reader here and there.

I have a humor post that has gotten over 50,000 pageviews and has produced maybe 10 RSS subscribers and a dozen ad clicks. If I write a post about blogging---if it's a good one---I get maybe 500 pageviews which produces 30 RSS subscribers and 25 ad clicks.

So, I'm forced to write non-humor in order to grow my blog. The problem is that it's a weird combination and the focus of my blog becomes confusing.

So, my blog sits there sometimes with me wondering where to go next.

"It takes 2 seconds to respond to someone on Twitter or Facebook"

No! No! No!

It takes me like five freaking minutes to figure out how I'm going to put everything I want to say into just 140 characters.

I'm verbose, I've spent about sixteen years taking English and writing classes. Pumping out essays of longer and longer length because the teachers & professors demanded more content, more references, more concepts, more details.

So there's my mini rant. I -almost- hate Twitter (but I'm trying really hard to use it once in a while, especially since this blog post reminded me I needed to respond to your direct msg - my first direct msg!)

See? I've got three mini-paragraphs on the slightest tangent and I haven't even scratched the surface of what your post is really about.

And on that topic, I'd say you gotta do whatever is most fun. Move forward in the ways you enjoy - That's where results happen.

(Whoa, that almost coula been a tweet, maybe I'm getting the hang of it)

PS: Florida pretty much sucks too. Then again, certain grasses might actually be greener.

Yeah, I'll stay in touch. Some of my entries are concerned with my dissertation, so they're really dense (and sometimes they're not as grammatical or logical as they should be).

I've used comment luv below to point at a poem commentary that I thought came out really well recently - I think it's pretty straightforward but gives lots to think about.

Yeah, I'll definitely approve your request soon, thank you so much for the compliment! It's tough finding people who even want to look at my site: the Internet has actually made me more elitist by presenting me with some harsh realities about the attention span of audiences.

I have a ton of Facebook mail to answer, I'm trying to hide from people on there, esp. an ex-girlfriend who seems to be chattier than usual lately.

I think this quote, from above, is worth focusing on:

"Basically my online persona is very conflicted on one hand I can continue to feel like a sucker being nice to a bunch of goofs or on the other I’m ready to be the Howard Stern of Blogging."

I think all of us have a certain frustration with new media: it doesn't work exactly like old media. Some of the most influential bloggers - including ones responsible for breaking stories and getting key politicians elected - are virtually unknown outside of their niche.

At the same time, that doesn't mean blogging is about niches only - all blogging is aspiring to be mass media to a degree. If it communicates to a more particular audience, it's aiming to empower that audience and give them a say mass media itself competes for.

For myself, I'm just like - I wanna treat people well while I'm online, I want to make the most of this. But there are quite a few people I've run into here who are beyond mindless, and yeah, I wish for that much more success when I run into them. Is that level possible? Maybe, maybe not, but I definitely act like it is possible.
