I wanted to tell you about this very cool stats checker mainly because it has a windows real time visitor monitor so now you can see that NO ONE is on your blog in real time. I did like woopra where you can msg people while they were on your site that was fun for about 20 minutes.Click that banner above to check it out AFTER you leave a do follow comment LOL ![]()
This pic leads me to think their web site valuation tool is all whacked because I don’t get a percentage of that number of unique visitors that’s for sure.
So don’t trust the site valuation section but the stats work like a charm I know because it says in my windows toolbar number of visitors 1 and that’s ME ![]()
Did you check out Google’s new Sidewiki ? Well it is keeping with google’s style of mediocrity and you can install it with their new toolbar. Check it out and don’t leave no nasty comments about this site:) Basically once you install it you can write “reviews” notes about a site.
Google is coming out with Google Wave and of course it’s going to be big because everyone kisses up to Google.
Well maybe not everyone ![]()
Well my day actually started with sending a compliment to this girl about her blog that writes for mashable and 6 hours later asking her, Do you really get that many compliments you don’t even respond ? which was wrong to say. Later on I was on mashable and saw that she wrote two posts and was at a convention so I felt like an ass because this time I may of been wrong. I had waited like 6 hours for an answer and one she didn’t need to do anything . But it does get frustrating sometimes that people don’t do what I want or expect them to do. <just being honest LOL ![]()
The reality is if my last name was Brogan she would of popped back a reply via that iPHONE QUICK <see what I’m saying.
Recently I read a great post called the Social Media Country Club, where the premise started out with a less then stellar review of Chris Brogan’s new Book trust agents. Then the post basically in my opinion said if your not one of these kiss up suck ups in social media you will never get anywhere because the CLUB basically endorses each other’s shit LOL ![]()
I was always fascinated why people idolize certain people. One thing I know is that most of the people that are in the IN CROWD lack basic skills like saying Thank you etc. Anyway let’s move right past all that and you never know you may be next.
So be sure to check out that sidewiki as a preview to Google Wave and the way it integrates with your google profile. You know they will be passing out some serious page rank to their own sites.
Other than that I have been seeing some cool apps coming down the pike. I’m doing great and just kicking back to this cold ass weather in San Antonio like 59* degrees right now LOL ![]()
Damn I know I have a jacket around here somewhere ![]()
Hope your doing well and thanks for stopping by
Have any cool apps to share or thoughts on the ones mentioned ?
Thanks

Don’t listen to that silly what your blog is worth brother, this place is priceless
As for the stats thing, don’t you just use Analytics John or do you use a few tools to figure out how many billions of visitors are coming through?

I don’t think any of these sites that claim to show what you blog is worth actually work!
Stats are all very well, but it’s the real visitors and commentators etc that really count…

A blog’s value to me with these tools is not measured in dollars but it does feel good when you start to pull away from 500 bucks

But true a blog is only as good as the people that visit
SO thanks
I only like stats to see what works and what doesn’t
I went MONTHS without checking analytics
I don’t place much credibility in those valuation sites, but they DO provide a measuring stick to show your relative progress (vs. previous period).
Google continues to provide innovation and value to the Web, I’m always amazed how much stuff they give away for free!

Thanks for this information… I just added a comment to your site, plus wrote in some stuff on all of my sites as the page owner. It’s going to be fun to go around and see what other comments people are adding… hope it takes off!

I can safely say re: responding to comments on the blog, even compliments – I just can’t get to all of them and give everyone the attention I would like to give.
I think this though: if people promote my stuff and I don’t give a thanks of some sort, then I’m definitely at fault and don’t deserve the attention I get. I know it’s going to be a lot harder to give appropriate praise as the blog gets bigger, but still, I do hope once things get going I can find some way of helping everyone who helped me out.
Actually, now that I think about it, “dofollow” and “commentluv” are probably good enough. Just hope people take advantage.

Yeah most of the site valuation programs always get it wrong, they always over-value websites, and over estimate just about everything, lol. At least that has been my experience…
Till then,
Jean
One of the issues worth thinking about is: what do decent web metrics look like?
I know what I want web metrics to do: I want them to tell me that even despite traffic fluctuations, I’m making progress in building links / increasing visibility of the blog, and that past efforts (i.e. getting entries dugg or mixxed, or being on Stumbleupon) haven’t been lost entirely to time.
The fact is that most web metrics are really discouraging, and don’t give solid advice on what one can do to improve. The “here’s how much your blog is worth” thing is almost a laughable corrective to that problem: I know for myself, you couldn’t pay me to do what I do online – what I want is that much more.

Congrats on making it in Kristi’s Fetching Friday again. You mentioned you’re fascinated why people idolize certain people. I idolize my friends that I can socialize with a little. It makes no sense to follow everyone that doesn’t know you exists.
I’ll check out the sidewiki now. I see it actually shows on the site so others can see it too. I hope you are enjoying the San Antonio weather this weekend, sounds like Michigan.

Oh I think the Sidewiki will be interesting.
Let the turf wars begin!
Christians vs Atheist ( & everyone else that is different).
Pro Lifers vs Right to Choice.
And I could list the many other radical groups that will start blasting sites in the wiki.
Other places have tried the Sidewiki type thing & gotten nowhere. With G promoting this one it could get a bit of traction. I bet it will be more trouble to G than it is worth.
As for the big G – do not expect any PR from their sites. Even their Knol site you have to wait & ‘earn’ a dofollow link. G says that they know people want PR from them so, they pretty much never give it.
You NEVER see a DoFollow link from YouTube. Youtube itself ranks high but, G does not share it.
Oh, I am just so not wearing my rose colored glasses today. LOL

Stats programs can be great but you can also get too bogged down in follow the numbers rather than getting on with the conversation.
Just look at the comments and you will know whether or not your blog is succeeding – and yours certainly is
From above:
“I was always fascinated why people idolize certain people. One thing I know is that most of the people that are in the IN CROWD lack basic skills like saying Thank you etc.”
This is interesting – I’m curious to hear more about this.
My own experience with celebrities and big-name bloggers is that they’re pretty stuck-up for the most part, although I met a few on Twitter who were really down to earth (Karl Rove was super nice, as was Kate Havnevik).
I suspect bloggers are less down-to-earth than real celebrities, because bloggers have a chip on their shoulder: make it big blogging and you’re still virtually unknown to the wider world. But like everything I’ve said in this comment, that’s a guess.

I know from experience that you can sell a site making $5 a day in adsense for a few grand tops, for what its worth….
