Ten reasons you suck at blogging

in bloggers, blogging, blogging tips

shitty post alert I warned ya LOL :)Risky Blog Post titles

Now you have to admit that this post has  a pretty funny title but the first point is that you have to take some risks sometimes with your titles.  A title MUST obviously be attractive enough to a wide range of people in order to gain some reach.

Now if I made it Ten reasons why YOU SUCK it may of done better because now I have included everyone LOL :)

2) You don’t go around thanking people. My number one “tool” for this blog is to go and personally thank someone for stopping by, commenting, retweeting whatever. This is the one pet peeve of mine I have always had with bloggers.

Especially since it takes about 10 seconds to reach out to someone.

Please keep NOT doing this so when I’m rich and famous you will know why ;)

THANKS

you suck

3) You don’t mix it up. I would hate to write about marijuana all day everyday.Take some risks and write some real shit. We already know about wordpress :P

4) Your blog is stale. Your running the same old ads and your last post was in August. I just did a sweep and you will be surprised how many blogs I saw shut down. Keep in the game and THINK up some new stuff to do. This isn’t college so focus on having some fun instead of writing a bunch of serious GURU nonsense like that’s going to work LOL .
5) Link to someone already. It’s so easy to write a link to some other bloggers that you like or that maybe are your only friends LOL  so do it .

Don’t worry about Google they don’t give a shit about you or bloggers.

6) Your ads suck and you don’t even realize it. Yes I have been guilty of this  but as you learn you will know what to stand by and what works and PAYS, this takes time.

7) Your a loner/lamer. Yes I spend alot of time by myself but I enjoy it. I do constantly look for cool people to interact with  but the reality is there aren’t many so cherish the ones you know that’s all I’m saying.

8) This is a BIG one. You suck up to well known bloggers that don’t give a damn about you and blow off people that you know are cool and would be there for you. I have NEVER been guilty of this in fact I actually talk mad smack on all the well known blogs as part of my guerilla marketing tactic and usually I’m high or frustrated with the whole damn process of why people suck up to scumbags. Support your local blogger fuck the John Chows they care about one thing and it’s not YOU.

9) I won’t mention about your site being on wordpress.com or blogspot because we all have to start somewhere but your not in the game of owning a GREAT BLOG worth something if MATT or Google owns it. I have to buy a custom theme or modify thesis so who I’m kidding :)

10) Maybe you don’t suck. Maybe I just wanted to go through a little list  based on my whole experience with blogging. I want you to be successful. 99% of the blogs in the world couldn’t give a damn if you died. I don’t have this blog so I can check my stats 24/7 or offer you to buy some lame ebook etc I have it for ONE REASON and that’s to keep my ass out of trouble. It gives me something to do and best of all it has allowed me to meet some of the coolest bloggers on this planet.

As long as you don’t quit it’s going to happen. Quote me on that :)

Also I was thinking that bloggers try to act all mysterious and some are  even anonymous well that doesn’t make any sense. One of the main things is to let people know who you are.

Have you taken any RISKS on your blog ? Please feel free to mention it and add a link to the post thanks :)

thanks

Number 4 definitely applies to my personal blog :) but as for taking risks, I think I’m about to with my work blog.. Gonna be posting an almost mocking article about Christianity in music and the hypocrisy of using a commercial form of money-making, combined with a religion that’s meant to spurn profit

but this is a truth, the more controversial or sensational title you have it helps you in generating more clicks, i have personally felt & experienced this, when i had first started a blog, i knew nothing about SEO, but somebody had advised me a title, and you wont believe i got 3000 clicks on the very first day!

Your reasons are all valid. I have tried my best to visit all the commentators on my site and try and interact with others. I can say that time is always against me even though I do my best to take time out just for browsing, it’s not always the case.

You could of also mentioned about the authors writing style, that too can also put others off and make your site suck.

BTW, I have added this post to next Monday’s roundup of great reads, give some link love as you said :)

I just re-did all of the ads on Kikolani, as well as adding some to my newest site and feeds, thanks to your post on Adsense. It really made me realize that the last little while has not been going well, so it was time for a change.

You do a great job mixing it up, along with keeping lots of new content on a regular basis. Your site is kicking a$$! :)

I like point 8 specially. I care a damn about those so called too HIGH IN THE SKY level bloggers who do not even read if I put a comment on their blog.

John Chow?? Well I commented at his blog some time ago (really long time ago)…then realise he pissed people off.

As for the risk..yea i took it last december 2008 :P Infact I didnt had a credit card as I am still a student so no fix work… you need to have a payslip here to get one.. so I had no money…i started on a blogspot with a free theme… and blog.

I got some $10 from and advert in october 2008 and wondered how to use it. So i either go and buy some crap out there or keep it in paypal (as in Mauritius we can only add credit from our credit card to paypal but WEIRDLY cannot withdraw money from paypal to our bank account) –I wonder why!

So I decided to buy a domain finally with my first $10 earned online….it was the start of an amazing adventure right them :D

As he says it himself he makes money by telling you how HE MAKES money…and not how YOU can money… so he is a clown.

I’m just starting out a product focused blog so this was great in terms of reminding me not to take it all too seriously. Thanks

LOL John – your title definitely grabbed my attention.

This is the one thing that we have in common. I’m all about people. I love helping others. It’s just so inspirational.

Just like you I’m not inclined to listen to these egocentric bloggers who just care about how much moola they make and see people as walking wallets and purses.

As usual.. love your humor :-D
All the best,
