I’m mentioning these blogs because I think they are really cool and worth checking out. 1. The Crazy Blog of Emi !!!The crazy blog of Emi !!! – I love this blog, really cool posts from a really great girl. I always look forward to reading what she has to say and her most recent post Day of Love was one of the best valentine blogs I found, it made a change from all the ‘I hate valentines day’ posts that seem to fill a lot of the other blogs. The other thing that is really cool about this blog, is its pretty clear of any advertising, which to me shows that this is someone who blogs just because they love blogging (to many bloggers start with the intention of making money and nothing else). 2. Bad Boys MediaBad Boys Media – This blog has the slogan ‘Whoever dies with the coolest toys….. Wins!’ – Okay, I admit it, I’m a boy and I like boys toys and this blog has some really cool gadgets on it. The Toast me a Message Toaster is really cool, its a must have gadget for anyone who wants to write message to there guests at breakfast time

The day this picture was taken I was ten years old and no that’s not a blunt in my hand. At this age my father was murdered and soon after I began a life of crime, alcoholism, running away, sexual exploitation all kinds of things a kid shouldn’t face. My way of dealing with it all was to start smoking weed at 11 and doing all kinds of crazy things that would maybe get attention. I believed all the things my mother told me about how she should of had an abortion and when I saw her dead body I made sure I had some piss on my finger tips to touch her for the last time.
Yes shit was tough in many ways but I had to learn some serious people skills, jokes and ways to survive Rikers Island. Elmira. Comstock at 17. I made it through and sadly used alcohol and hard drugs for many years. I would have some periods of soberiety and freedom here and there but I’m 44 and served like 12 yrs down.
So why am I telling you all this ? Because over time and having to return to the school of hard knocks over and over I came to realize that life is gift and I better try to make the best of it regardless of what the world is doing. I don’t mean to not care about people or get rich so I can be a total jerk like we have seen so many times. No my real game is to perhaps make amends to my own daughter for all those years I was gone, to be able to continue to watch my beautiful son turn into a man, and my hope is to be able to make amends to the world, society and some special people that were there for me. Yeah I’d like that, I don’t think anyone wants to die a scumbag but life is guaranteed no man and I know that. Just wanted to share a little behind the madness.

PS the Tom Petty goofy looking kid was a sweetheart Mama’s boy who proudly served in the US NAVY traveled the world,never married, no kids, dead at 34 from cancer, he had two weeks before knowing and DEATH.

You know even the people who really don’t like Obama and want him to fail for political reasons need to understand this. The system is broken for many people. I have insurance through my wife’s employer so I could be smug and say nothing needs to change. But the reality is that we are, or at least should be, our brother’s, (or sister’s), keeper and we need to do the right and moral thing and fix this health care system once and for all. Unfortunately I have a feeling we are only going to go half way at best.
I think it’s sad that so many people have decided that Obama has failed before he even took office. Those people will never give him a chance… even if he turns out to be the best president America has ever seen. Like you said… they’re stupid.
I’ve seen so many misconceptions and rumors being spread about what his health bill is all about and it’s pretty sad. I keep wondering how many of those people who keep putting it down have actually read it (I have), or if they’re just re-spewing the nonsense they hear from other stupid people.
And to those who think they’re safe just because they have insurance… why don’t you ask the woman who died in Japan of cancer that could have been treated, but the insurance company decided it wasn’t “life threatening” enough for her to receive treatment… in other words, they just didn’t want to pay for it. Oh wait… you can’t… that’s right… she’s dead!
These are the things Obama is trying to change with this health bill… he’s trying to prevent the insurance companies from being able to screw you over! He’s trying to make it affordable for everyone… not just people with incomes over $100k a year. And yes… they do WAY over charge on their rates. You can get the same covereage in Australia for about 1/3 the cost… how does that work???
And I’ve been living in Australia for 5 years now and having the public health system is NOT a bad thing. You don’t have to use it… you can choose to use insurance, but at least it’s there if you need it. There is nothing wrong with that! And it’s sad because the public health system here is better than the private health care you guys get in the US… face it… the medical system over there is the worst in the world… it’s barely better than most 3rd world countries!
Why is that? Well because it’s run by the insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies who only care about one thing! No… not your health… making money. You’re lives are in the hands of money mongers… how does that make you feel?

John… you have an awesome blog. I’ve been keeping up with it, but never responded before. Been tempted at times, but I usually try to keep my mouth shut when I don’t have anything nice to say (the stupid people thing again). It was nice to finally see someone supporting Obama, though, so I just felt compelled to finally say something!
People have to complain, and they have to find a scapegoat for everything and anything… Obama might be the best thing that ever happened to the country but the ignorant, selfish and self-righteous will still find cause to bitch and moan.. Bugger ‘em

Those people are insane. They say, “Obama wants to give us affordable health care! He’s a Nazi! Let’s kill him!”
They are saying it’s Socialism. Are they kidding? Do they even know what Socialism is? By their definition, John McCain is the biggest Socialist on the planet: He’s never had a non-government sponsored job in his life; he’s on government health care; he draws Social Security; he’s getting a government pension… the list goes on…
And, to top it off: he really WASN’T born in the United States of America; he was born in Panama!
These dunderheads are going to ruin it for everyone because of their stupid-ass misguided idea of reality. They really are truly insane.
There is a large percentage of them that think they need to overthrow the government by force because Obama wants to give them health care! If that isn’t insane, I don’t know what is.
I’ve got to say, I’ve been watching the debates in Congress and I don’t know if I can support any of these proposals.
The Senate wants to kill the public option and most of the subsidies for low-to-middle income workers – and they’ll simply replace these with a huge penalty for those who don’t go out and buy private insurance. In my opinion, that doesn’t solve anything except the problem of bringing more customers to the insurance industry.
I would like to see, at the very least, a strong public option that can create a more competitive market. And some serious reforms in tort law and how doctors pay for their education. The whole incentive structure of private insurance is messed up, and we push a lot of unnecessary costs onto the doctors themselves.
Based on the current Congressional proposals, I’d probably have to pay $1,000-$2,000 in fines next year – but I still wouldn’t have any insurance coverage. In short, the problem is deeply rooted corruption in both parties. Every time they “compromise,” its their shared corporate contributors who win out.
I think the Obama is right. Health care system has lots of weak places. So strong reforms are essential. Think whatever you want, Obama is smart and he know what he is doing.
As a small business owner, it really bites having to spend 400 a month for insurance for three people would really be a lot if I were on a fixed income.

It’s the same ole same politics. 90% of those people protesting against Obama’s reform do not even know what the real issues are. It always surprise me when I see people on medicare opposing a public option. The whole system is broken and need major reforms. It’s really sad for the country to miss this unique opportunity to get back on track.
No country can sustain its developement when its citizen do not have proper healthcare. Sooner or later the whole system will conllapse if nothing is done about it. There are so many hypocrites in the senat.

I am neither Rep or Dem (different sides of same coin if you watch the whole picture) so I have no political ax to grind here. I have no one person or party that I’m trying to blame for screwing things up.
I work in healthcare. I see how broken the system is. Every day. I see my patients not able to afford their medicine. Even the ones we sell for $4.
The problem, however, is not that we have insufficient government regulation or not enough government money. Competition (real capitalism, not this phony shit we have in the US) is what we lack. That, when it is real, lowers costs to the consumer. Health care is not the only system that is broken. What about affordable quality food, too?
I have patients who remember health care costs before Medicare. To a person, they all say that medical costs started moving upward faster AFTER Medicare was implemented. Coincidence? Government money and interference in the marketplace always drives up costs and drives down productivity and efficiency. (Just look at the cost of reefer.)
Government programs are generally created to benefit specific entities at the expense of the people. (You do know how to tell when a politician is lying, don’t you?) Take, for example, the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program. That programs has mainly benefited two groups.
Of course, lawyers benefit from most everything government does. But that is not the group to whom I am referring.
Insurance companies gained lots of new customers, lots of new customers that they can “encourage” to patronize their company-owned mail-order pharmacies. So the patients can call me when they run out of their meds. Then I get to call their insurance company and get permission for them to not have to wait for the postman to get their meds. Or they go without. Also the list on non-approved drugs increases each year. Along with the laundry list of questions to receive an exemption for a drug for a patient. Less claims equals more profit.
A pet peeve: Why would you insure against a known expense like routine medications? Seems to me like that is as smart as insuring against being hungry three times a day. Many of my patients would like to drop drug coverage, but it is included in many employer-provided policies. Why? It is apparently a profit center for the insurance company.
The other main beneficiary is, of course, the actual authors and sponsors of the bill itself, the drug manufacturers. Who wouldn’t like a blank check from the government for their industry? I know from experience that people will not pay to take a $10 pill themselves. These guys would not sell nearly as many $10 pills without some kind of subsidy to their customers. There are very few ultra-expensive drugs that do not have a less expensive alternative drug.
But what about all the elderly and disabled who got help with their drug expenses? Well, a couple thousand dollars subsidy helps. At least it helps some. How many expensive drugs does it take to put someone in the doughnut hole? My experience: two. That’s right. Just two. Also my experience: When they hit the coverage gap, they want to change to a less expensive drug. Their doctor will usually agree to a change in medication. What stopped them from asking for a less expensive drug to start with? If you said “their drug subsidy” you are starting to get it. Another correct answer would be “human nature.”
The new plan will work exactly like this plan does. It will work to the benefit of a few while increasing costs overall. I agree that the system is broken and needs to be fixed. But, as you can see, I respectfully disagree with the means proposed by those who seem to want to TRY to control the market. Consumers spending their own earnings, with a motive to control costs, will be infinitely more efficient IMHO. If the government must be involved in some way, give them a tax credit, dollar for dollar.
The bottom line question you should ask: Would you really want your health care managed by the likes of the USPS and the IRS? If anybody with reasoning faculties really believed they could do what they say they will do, would there ever be any debate on any of these programs?
Final thought provoking question: (I promise) When the people responsible for understanding the bill do not understand it, how can anyone possible fault someone in the public for also not understanding it?
