You have to be in it to win it

in blogging tips, san antonio, san antonio blogs

inittowinit
Today as I sat here bumming out a little bit still,  I decided I would set out to visit some of my friends blogs. As I was reading Lyndi’s great post about how to add some killer code to your header.php I was able to see that she is yet again giving out great content, very readable and the comment section is buzzing with praise and follow ups.

I thought about how this blog really has no direction. How I have bounced from one direction to the next and I want you to know one thing. Blogging is a long term venture. I have been able to transform myself  from a hostile anti-social misfit from society to a relatively shy recluse LOLL :)

Recluse ?  I was thinking about going to that Blogger Expo in Vegas and if it would be worth the expense to cross paths with so many well known bloggers and social media types ? I think it would be pretty expensive for the whole venture. It’s in October. Here in San Antonio they have a new co working space downtown. Tomorrow they have a Web Professionals  luncheon I may just go. The whole point is blogging is so fast you have to keep up. Within a few days you can go from riding your stats hard to a ghost town.

I was able to realize that I also sabotage myself often. It’s difficult to have to operate on internet time when your used to a New York minute but rest assure I’m far from done.

Sometimes it’s good to step back and assess where your at and where you want to Go ?

How are you going to get THERE if you don’t know where it’s at ?  I’ll let you think about that for a sec :) I liked this clip check it out :) Dedicated to Extreme John.

Hell yeah and first on the list and I don’t give two shizzie’s, it’s about time you spun something I would feel.

Now stop trying to gain a bigger lead on me on the interwebs and check your Twitter DM’s

I often wonder which direction my blog is going. I’m not even sure what it’s about sometimes; however, I do know what type of post generates the most traffic: it’s the one’s where I reveal how stupid I am.

Whenever I make an idiot of myself and post about it I get mass quantities of happy visitors who often leave comments.

Sometimes, though, I’m forced to write posts that I’m sure loses readers permanently. But I do these crappy posts because I know I will get tons of Google search traffic and lower my Alexa (it’s dropping–down below 260k now from over 450k last month–but it will be months before I see the 5 figure numbers again).

Anyway, I’m going to be posting more and more about my daily adventures with a few blogging tips and gadget stuff thrown in from time to time. The main thing is to make people smile enough to want to return on a regular basis. If I can do that, I’m happy.

My personal blog (which doubles as part-time self-employment) has very little in the way of direction, very little in the way of solid goals or strictly-defined structure.. It’s a regularly updated rant that hardly stays on topic most of the time. heh heh..

I couldn’t agree more with you. On my end, I just live by the day and my blog is certainly a work in progress.

I hear ya with the ghost town, gotta keep it up.

I find the personal posts and humor seem to keep my visitors happy:) and the ones where I announce my recent screwups:0

Ok, second attempt on this comment, thanks to my internet connection going out.

I was thinking about the blogging convention too, but it’s a bit out of my price range as well. Especially since I am saving up for a birthday treat for my hubby that same month. Oddly enough, I Googled “blogging convention vegas” because of this post to see what the fees were again, and my Star Trek Pictures post came up number two, which is kind of funny.

I’m super busy, being halfway immersed in the world of freelance. Not enough confidence to go into it full time, but I wish I could. It would give me more time to do stuff I want to do, like really get involved in my blogging community again. I miss interacting with my readers.

Direction… That’s a cool question but sincerely when it comes to my blog I do not have a REAL predefine direction or plan. I go by the waves and what really interest me right now.

Let’s take life easy :P

Thanks for the post… my direction? I think I want to go into a “paranormal” direction, but politics (especially healthcare) have really grabbed my focus. Some of my Beach Boys related stuff grabs the most hits! I guess I’ll make this a more intuitive based blog…whatever the hell that means.

Agreed. Blogging has to be looked at as more of a longer term, evolutionary activity. I wrestle with some of the same issues of focus and scope of my blog. Or whether it’s time to spin off another blog to help narrow my focus. And how to find the hours in the day to keep all the balls up in the air…
