Opening the trottle to your blog

in America, blogging tips

trottle it up
One thing I do  and I’m NOT sorry for it is I write primarily to bloggers. Most of my friends do likewise and we are all basically in the same pack and all moving forward around the same pace.

Today I was thinking about topics to write about that both bloggers and the general public will enjoy without turning into some society mag blog.

I often write about a variety of topics and the right combination still alludes me. Often I will shoot off a post and get a great response but they quickly fade fast. A formula that balances a few simple elements will produce.

A few months ago I had a post about the TOP 5 violent cities in America and sadly that has and still produces MEGA hits. Now we have to  combine the two, wide searched topics with some blogging spin on it is basically the formula.

I don’t waste time with keyword research I make up my own keywords :)

Please feel Free to add a link to a post your PROUD OF that demonstrates a good balance, thanks

I was checking out Yahoo’s new home page. They are really trying to get it right AGAIN check it out :) They should just hire me I’ll take them to the promised land.

See according to this I should be writing about one of these topics. I would feel like a sell out. I have seen way to many sites sell out and I’m going to just keep it with my own little twist.

Hearing about the Taco Bell dog did bum me out  :(

What method do you usually use to write post ? Do you write just to bloggers ?

It is REALLY hard to find that balance. I haven’t figured it out either. I keep trying new combinations all the time, but I have no magic formula.

I think the post I wrote that came the closest is this one:

It is NOT my most popular post, but I am much more proud of it than the one post that out-pulls it traffic wise.

Thanks again, John, for another interesting post!

For me it is very easy. I write within a very narrow niche so I simply stay within that.

I think my bro just puts art out there that he likes. I have tried to convince him to do more to contribute to the live of his fellow artist online, but he is kind of wrapped up in his own stuff. He is a crazy busy kid with school.

If I ever get my blog up and running, I tend to think I would balance writing for other bloggers and trying to just find generally compelling subject matter.

Sadly, I can not think of a blog post that I am truly proud of..some of the stuff I did on Pixelheadonline got a ton of comments, but is a post that gets a ton of comments a true measure of the quality of a post?

Hi John,
I am new here but I can relate. I write about everything and according to my stats, I should have fitness or cooking site.
Good article – keep it coming :)

I just write as I feel. Sometimes, if the topic is personal to me, I will write about a hot or trending topic. Like I was a huge Jackson 5 fan as a kid, and when Michael Jackson died, a friend sent me 29 rare Jackson photos, and as of now, it is one of my most popular posts. It isn’t my favorite, but it is popular.
