The last 8 months or so I have become increasingly focused on helping my brother’s art blog succeed and the results have been mixed. The reasons for this as I see it are several fold. There is only so much I can do for another person and to the extent bro and I aren’t on the same page I have to respect that it is his call to make. I can’t make him do anything especially on the monetization side. If he doesn’t have the hunger, I can’t instill it in him. I’m looking at the end of the quarter with a profit after our hosting cost of a few hundred bucks. Not exactly living large right?

Money certainly isn’t the reward and god knows I wouldn’t have worked this hard if it didn’t mean something more than money to help my little bro out, but it is hard to justify the expenditure of time.

So what role do I play in blogging? I don’t really know, but I think I may have to work to find that out in a more robust way for myself. I am open to suggestions

I want to say in closing John that you are a real inspiration and offer that from where I am sitting this is precisely your “role” as a blogger. You care about others especially other bloggers in a profound way and your generosity of spirit has kept me coming back often. You also stomp on the haters which seem to be all over the place on the internet these days. You do a service to the community and you get mad respect from me.
