Are you being heard ?

heard

When I was younger I was pretty loud and obnoxious so I know I was being heard. But the internet is different. So many sites and people bombarding the world with information it’s hard to sort through. I was just reading a friends blog Persuasive.net.  At first I was a little put off by his site and mistook it for manipulation and fast talk it’s not that at all. AJ  goes through many forms of communication that are  critical to effective results.

I have had a very brash style of writing on this blog and although amusing as it may be if your not explaining yourself in a proper manner people won’t listen.

Now what does this have to do with blogging ? Everything. Yes it’s fun and cool to rant about various topics off the cuff I love doing that but if you want to be successful you have to look at (change) the way you communicate. I wanted to write a rant about why people don’t respond back  and how terrible “these” people are. Don’t they know I’m waiting for MY thanks :)

Well if that’s as far as we take it we will continue to get BLOWN OFF and nothing will change. Perhaps if I checked my tone and delivery I would have better results. Or better yet if I had something to say that was worth responding to they would.

Anger, bitterness and resentments from the past is never a good place to respond from.

It’s easy to sit back and see how the world should just change this and that it’s difficult to see what I need to change.

Success isn’t a new car,  fame and fortune. Success is realizing the challenge and doing something about it.

As a blogger it is good to utilize your strengths  but you must look at your weaknesses if you want to succeed. You have to challenge yourself to do better. If you don’t look at the problem you can’t see the solution.

Thanks for stopping BY :)

Side notes :) I was very proud of our President and country today. I watched his speech at the University of Norte Dame and was shocked that he would go. I have to give the man credit for stepping into the Lion’s den. He was a class act and his speech and the crowd’s reaction was awesome.

Communication is the Key :)

I’d like to thank AJ over @ Persuasive.net for inspiring this post after reading his excellent blog.

So what do YOU have to say about that ? Have you meet any challenges and succeeded ?

My biggest challenge (to date) was discovering how to effectively market using WOM (word of mouth) advertising. Fortunately, the rise of Social Networking has been advantageous in my quest to rid my site of all paid advertising. Review sites like “Yelp” and “City Search” have been instrumental in producing referrals that are similar to WOM. Getting the message to your prospective clients means getting their “permission” to contact them…..as opposed to the usual “Interruption Based Marketing” which bombards them with sales pitches.

In the past year, everything came together with my KW and SERP, resulting in more targeted traffic from non-cheesy wedding couples!
This has been very satisfying, knowing that my inbound traffic has been positively referred.

Other DJs in my market area have been clinging to the traditional forms of marketing like Yellow Pages and Bridal Fairs…….I haven’t been in a Yellow Page book in 15 years, haven’t rented a trade show booth in 12 years!

@Matt thanks for responding when I woke up today and asked myself
Am I being heard and saw no comments I was like
I guess NOT LOL anyway I kinda of wrote that post for myself to make a conscious effort to improve my communication skills or better yet change them.
When I had a small engine repair shop in N Carolina I was surprised to see the business was paying like 400 dollars just to be in the listing
I decided not to do that and made good money all By word of mouth.
    Have an awesome day :)

      @Blogging tips (John):

the reason nobody comments right away is because there is some kind of weird “delay” with the e-mail subscription feed notice. Its usually several days after you post a new blog article, when I get the e-mail announcing the post. (I’m always checking the blog on a regular basis, so I usually have seen the page before I get the e-mail).

@John you know your being heard haha.

Excellent post, I think now as time goes on I care a little bit more than before if people actually read and care about what I wrote. I find myself writing more to see how others feel about what I am writing about, where I never really cared.

I would hardly say that I am a blogger but I do enjoy the interaction with the really nice people I have met in blog world.

John you are so correct in what you said , Delivery is everything . It isn’t always what you say that matters it is how you say it . I think you said it well , “Anger, bitterness and resentments from the past is never a good place to respond from.”

Have a great week , you deserve it !

    John,
Another good thought provoking post. I agree that for a blogger to succeed they need to be ble to adapt and change. It is important to understand your audience and adapt to what they want. After all wth out readers there would be no bloggers.

I believe that we all have challenges to overcome..for some it maybe just getting out of bed one more time..and for others it is putting one foot in front of the other.
Today, my goal will be to write a least one blog post, and to educate some interns on social media.
Yesterdays goal was to make it out alive…yea, I succeeded.

I have been blogging for about 2 years.. I haven’t made any money from my blog. It started out as a blog to help my website, The Original Coffee Company, but turned into a personal blog. I would like to get a blog that actually made money. I am the bread winner in our household and would love to put more time and energy into what I love. HOMESTEADING. I refuse to buy all of these get rich quick ideas. I can’t trust which ones are Real and which ones are not. My website pays the monthly fees, not much more. I have a great product at a good price, but with the economy, people just don’t go for my product. I don’t have time to market like I once did. So I guess I will keep selling cell phones which is a good job. But not m calling. Have a great day.

Oh by the way…. I pop up at your blog A LOT more than you pop by mine…. :-)
