How facebook and twitter killed blogging

Mr Twitter KING

I haven’t been blogging as long as many well known bloggers but I have been around long enough to come to realize that facebook and twitter have changed bloggers and not for the better. I have seen many well known bloggers become obsessed with twitter and facebook.

How facebook and twitter killed blogging
For lame ass marketers and wannabe gurus that have no traffic to their sites these social networks are GOLD. But for hard working bloggers that were engaging people on their blogs and learning how to make the Google bot send them visitors it’s changed everything.
Have you noticed you don’t meet cool new people as often ? When I started blogging I was meeting new people everyday. If you follow me on twitter and direct message me to check out your FREE GIFT etc that’s very far from what I’m talking about.
Sadly I watched many talented bloggers make some money and turn into SALES people :) More importantly is the distance people now have. I have countless times reached out to people only to get some weird ass response or more often NO response.

Also people are now leaving comments with some lame ass keywords but I’m not Hating in fact I changed my name to San Antonio Riverwalk LOL :)

Facebook’s ONLY value to me was to reconnect with people I went to school with and some distant family.  I don’t need to be coached or hear some larger then life GURU try to school me about a damn thing. I’m 43 not 19 get a grip. So why I’m hating on facebook and twitter ? Because they have stolen the interaction that bloggers once not to long ago had and replaced it with USELESS fake ass networking.  I may just stay off both sites for a while and get back to pimping the GoogleBOT —–oh here it  comes NOW :)

Have you noticed the change ? Do you see it ? What do you have to say about that ?

My next post is ” What’s wrong with HATE SPEECH :) only kidding.

This is actually a serious issue so I would appreciate your thoughts and to my real friends

LUV YA THANKS :)

PS I have been thinking about selling out myself and turning this into a straight up POT blog and using BLOGANESE for a general blogging site :)

I don’t know what I’m going to do with the Milliondollablog and all the other ones I have.

Also please feel free to add any of your own projects, news preferably GOOD news and other cool things you have going on Thanks – Peace

  • Oh man I came close to being back above 100k on Alexa. I was thinking of that as some sort of failure. I did have this blog at 68k at one point but that’s when bloggers weren’t spending so much time on twitter and facebook :) I’t s ALL GOOD

Yeah I have to agree with you here. Facebook. Nobody even talks on it. Just more people advertising whatever. Oh and add this app. now add this app, here another app. Twitter. started out ok at first. Not so sure about it now. Again no responses. lol Get a lot of followers. But they don’t seem to pay attention when you post something. lol I’m with you on this one

I haven’t got on the whole twitter bandwagon, but I feel like inevitably the crush of the mob will inspire me to do so. It seems like the interaction over there sucks and I am not entirely looking forward to it. Maybe you just have to be reel careful with who you follow.

It’s like StumbleUpon. I’ve definitely met some cool cats. In fact, I wouldn’t be reading this blog if it weren’t for stumble, but recently the spammers, blog dumpers, ect have kicked it into high gear. Blogging should be about community and building strong one at that not much of this crap that passes for quasi human interaction.

Facebook I feel is a mixed bag. A bunch of my friends from high school and college constantly socialize over there and I haven’t notice too many spammers entering our particular social niche. I guess I should count myself fortunate.

I really think the best we can do is find good peeps, stick together, and then make sure we have each others back.

I really try not spend too much time on Facebook, but everynow and then someone contacts me from the past and I go on a little splurge. I just don’t like the user interface..

I can see your point about Twitter too..with the limitation of 140 characters, you are limited to very trite and often shallow messages. I often find myself having to sensor myself to because what I want to say doesn’t fit.
It also seems to suck so much time away from real blogging..

Hey John, that’s an interesting perspective…how facebook and twitter have killed blogging…yeah I guess microblogging is all the rage…similar to how blogging has killed print journalism.

I think its a reflection of the world…people want it now and they don’t want to wait. Our society has turned into a fast food drive thru window…cook it fast and give it to me quick.

Good post…oh and stay away from the spammers on Twitter and Facebook..there are real people there, you just have to find them.

;)

I know the feeling of having other sites you don’t know what to do with. I have 6 or 7 domains now. The one I’m working on for launch soon is the wedding site where I’ll be putting up photos, video, etc. from the wedding & honeymoon. Kind of a mushy, sappy romance site. :) After that, I have a domain for my name that I want to do a visual resume/portfolio on, and after that, I don’t know what to do with the others. Those are my upcoming projects. :)

John,

I agree, and Facebook and Twitter are just hit and run sites for people who are trying to gain traffic.

Twitter is a dashboard and if you’re not connected you miss the content. I think this is a fad that will soon fade.

Twitter this and Twitter that.

That wouldn’t be a bad thing John……your readership would increase, the SEO would be better due to focusing on the KW, and (best of all) no more idiotic posts about Twitter and Facebook.

FWIW, I do not “Tweet” or Twitter (my profile page hasn’t been updated in over one year), and I rarely use FaceBook (last login date was in Early April).

@Matt from Sacramento Weddings

OUCH :) and (best of all) no more idiotic posts about Twitter and Facebook.”
Well sir I hope your reading this because I wanted to thank my mysterious DJ friend from Sacramento and say I was thinking about you TODAY and want to invite YOU to write a good marijuana post and include your links etc. OR you can write the post anonymously and then write another one about the DJ business etc and include all your links. We don’t want the search to SEE I LOVE weed when people look up your business :) anyway I do appreciate your long term commitment to this blog and want you to know if there is anything I can do to help NAME IT :)
thanks

Wow, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed. lol.

On a serious note. I have notice this but at the same time I do contact with some bloggers on twitter and facebook. It really depends on the person.
